Esther Barend has an unstoppable need to paint. She's inspired by her rich and complex inner world, by her current emotions and contemporary events. She examines the entire life inevitable from her personal perspective as an artist. Painting is essential for Esther, a way of living. What she can't say with words, she expresses with paint on canvas in colours and powerful motion. She wants to take the viewer along into a fascinating spectacle, which has been built by intense colours, contrasts and powerful movements ... into another world that only excists in your own mind.
Everything is open, no fixed standards, no expectations, but total freedom.




Barend (Dec. 1964, Eindhoven - Netherlands) was born in an artistic family. After finishing her studies, she worked and lived in Paris and Amsterdam and afterwards established herself as a designer of jewellery.

Several years later she started classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, Belgium. Hereafter, during the years, she developed her very own style. She's always looking further, seeking for development, experimenting, trying to open up new horizons and surpass herself.




Nowadays she lives and works in Belgium and her work can be found from New York - Amsterdam - Paris to Tokyo.
